The latest in the Legend of Zelda series, Skyward Sword, released a few short weeks ago to very little fanfare. I have no idea why that is, because the game is absolutely gorgeous and pretty darn good. Maybe it was the fact that Nintendo forced motion controls in to this one, or maybe it was because everyone is busy playing Skyrim/Modern Warfare 3/Battlefield 3. Whatever the reason, if you even remotely like the Zelda series, give this one a whirl.
No Zelda game would be complete without a bunch of Easter Eggs for you to find, though! Check out these videos from IGN for a bunch of great tutorials in how to find these pesky extras.
Zelda's Room
When you're at the Knight Academy, you're able to go in to Zelda's room. However, you'll need the Clawshot to access it. Check out the video below for a good explanation.
Glittering Mushroom Spores
When you're in the Faron Woods, you're likely to stumble across some glittering mushrooms. Now you may ask yourself "Self, what do these giant mushrooms do exactly?" Well, if you slice at 'em long enough, you'll get some glittering spores. These guys are pretty versatile and invaluable. Check out the video below for every use possible for glittering spores.
Field of Kittens
Probably the most adorable Easter Egg in the franchise's 25 year history. For this one, you'll need to head to The Goddess Statue in Skyloft, and head west. On top of a wall, you'll see a place you can use your Clawshot to grapple up to the top of the wall. Once there, head over the wall where the flowers are, and bury your face in a pile of kittens. As noted in the video, they don't come out at night, so you'll only be able to do this during the day.
Mess with Demise, the Final Boss
It should be noted that this is kind of a SPOILER for the end boss. So, if you don't want to be SPOILED by this SPOILER, move along.
Okay, good. Now that the riff-raff are gone, let's talk Easter Eggs. If you want to have some fun with Demise during the final fight, take out your bug net and wave it around. He'll follow it like an interested puppy, and won't attack you either. Don't believe me? Watch the video for proof.
Secret Song
Now, this one isn't in the game, but it's worth sharing anyway. In one of the trailers for Skyward Sword, those sneaky devils over at Nintendo decided to insert Zelda's Lullaby somewhere in the trailer. Hint: It's there the whole time. Check out the video below to see what I mean.
And that's all I've got for you today. If any else finds more Easter Eggs, be sure to post them here in the world. And if I find more, I'll be sure to post them here or on the Corkboard.
